XPO Logistics will manage the distribution operations of Omega PLC in the UK as part of its multi-million pound investment and expansion programme. The latest investment in distribution and logistics follows on from Omega’s £20m investment and expansion plan for its South Yorkshire facility, which will increase production capacity to over £125m. Ian Gordon, Head of Distribution for Omega PLC explains: “We are delighted to begin our partnership with XPO Logistics, and look forward to their world-class service as they take over responsibility for the delivery of all Omega kitchens.
“As Omega continues to invest and expand, it’s imperative that our partnerships develop and grow with us to ensure we continue to deliver the highest level of logistical support and performance alongside enhanced communication and service for our customers.
“By working with XPO Logistics, an innovation leader, Omega customers can look forward to the introduction of enhanced benefits, including a new customer smart phone APP, 2-hour timed delivery slots, sign-on glass and improved order tracking and live delivery updates, as well as the reliability and reassurance of a modern delivery fleet.
“These improvements to our distribution service have already started and will continue to be rolled out nationally in the coming months.”
XPO will use a dedicated fleet with support from its own shared-user capacity network to service the new agreement. Deliveries will be organised by two-man teams, including home delivery direct to customers’ houses. XPO will integrate its advanced tracking and telematics into the customized solution, giving Omega state-of-the-art customer service capabilities. Luis Angel Gomez, managing director of transport, XPO Logistics Europe, said, “Omega is an ambitious company with a strategy to scale up its operations. We presented them with a tailored, nationwide solution that is designed to generate substantial cost efficiencies. Our team will manage a highly integrated distribution network that will allow Omega to continue to focus on its customers and bring high-quality kitchen units to market.”
